Backed from 20/1 into 9/1 on-course Timmone gave Mikey Fogarty a deserved turn when landing the Comeragh Veterinary Maiden Hurdle at Tramore.
Colin Bowe 's charge touched off Double Windsor by a nose with three parts of a length back to Naturally Blond in third.
Bowe started in the aftermath: "We weren't expecting him to run as well as that. He was very, very keen in his bumper the last day.
"Mikey just said that he jumped the hurdles well and that he switched off. I only have two months or so and he is a nice horse.
"He showed he had potential before I got him, but he ran fierce disappointing the last day, but he was too keen there. He settled today and jumped well, and maybe he'll be able to win a handicap."
The Stewards interviewed M.P. Fogarty, rider of Timmone, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found M.P. Fogarty in breach of Reg 10. 4. by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and having taken his record into account suspended the rider for 1 race day.
