Flying Bullet ran out a game winner of the Kill Maiden to open his account at Naas tonight and give trainer Dermot Weld a quick-fire double.
Pat Smullen teamed up with his boss again as he tracked the leaders on the 5/1 shot in the ten furlong contest.
The Smart Strike colt was asked to challenge two furlongs from home and fought it out with Ballydoyle pair Sean O'Casey and The Major General
He got on top going to the furlong marker but then had to hold the late charge of Mighty Legend by a head.
The winner had been runner-up to Housesofparliament, who was subsequently a close third in the Dee Stakes at Chester, on his comeback run at Dundalk last month.
"He battled well and is a nice horse. The form was there as he finished second to a horse that nearly won the Dee Stakes at Chester,” said Weld.
"I've an open mind about where he goes next but that's his trip and he'd just want a bit better ground."
