Backing Jim Bolger’s runners in 2019 has proved to be a profitable strategy and the Coolcullen team continued a strong finish to the campaign at Galway today. Vocatus won the Corrib Food Products Maiden under stable jockey Kevin Manning.
Vocatus beat Magic Fountain by a short head when they clashed behind Acapella Blu at Thurles on October 10th.
However the difference between the Bolger colt and the Ballydoyle filly was much greater this time.
Vocatus (6/4 into 11/10 favourite) extended away in the final furlong to defeat Magic Fountain by six lengths.
"The two lads went hard in front and he dropped in and sat third and he said they were always going to come back to him," said Bolger representative Ger Flynn.
"It is nice to get his maiden tag out of the way, he has been running some very good races and has been trying hard but has just been running into ones.
"He minds himself really well and looks like he didn't have a race there.
"He got the best turned out and everything and it is great to be finishing off the year and hopefully we can end the year as well as we started!"
