Vicangelome fought out a battle with Go Paddy Go before narrowly prevailing in the Colin Bowe Racing Handicap Hurdle at Wexford.
The two horses had the race to themselves as they swept clear on the approach to the second last. Vicangelome jumped that flight slightly ahead but Go Paddy Go, on his inner, was a doughty competitor.
Again Vicangelome was the narrow leader at the last and was kept up to his work on the run-in by Phillip Enright to win by a neck and justify 3/1 favouritism.
Go Paddy Go lost little in defeat as he served it up to the favourite but had to settle for second at 9/2.
There was a seven and a half length gap back to Stay With It in third at 8/1.
Handler Robert Tyner said: "One of his owners is away in the sun, one is in Aintree and another is in New Ross in a betting office as he got stuck in traffic coming here. They'll be happy anyway!
"He handles them conditions and he just idled a bit in front as he usually does, he was the same here when he won before. He was always getting there anyway. We will mix it away with him but he is on the go along time so we'll see."
Vicangelome was winning for the fourth time since October last year.
The Stewards interviewed P.T. Enright, rider of Vicangelome (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that P.T. Enright was in breach of R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and consequently suspended him for one race day having taken his previous record into consideration.
