Having recorded his first winner (Point The Toes) with just his second runner at Downpatrick on Friday, Mark Fahey made it two from three at Roscommon, as his Flaring Forth landed some nice bets when winning the Ballaghaderren Handicap under Shane Foley.

Formerly trained by Fahey's uncle Paul, the four-year-old daughter of Choisir was backed from 12s into 7s this morning and opened on-course at 13/2, going off at that price.

She had six runs to her name before today, with her best effort coming on quick ground at Tipperary in May of last year, where she finished four and three parts of a length behind winner Smart And Smart.

Encountering good ground for just the second time this evening, she hit the front inside the final furlong and kept on well from there to score by three parts of a length at the line.

The 11/4 favourite Smoke Charger attempted to make all under Rory Cleary for Paul Deegan, but he had no response when headed and had to settle for second, while Tsar Paul was a further three parts of a length back in third under Pat Smullen for James Nash at 11/2.

Mark Fahey said afterwards: "It can only go downhill from here!

"Dusty (Shane Foley’s nickname) gave her a great ride and that’s her ground. I have four in training at the moment and we’ll find a similar handicap for her now."
