Tuckmill on target for Fahey and Coen

Tuckmill registered his second success since joining the Peter Fahey yard as he claimed the Support The Irish Injured Jockey Fund Handicap Hurdle.

A winner at Naas in December of last year, the eight-year-old pulled up on his next start at Leopardstown after bursting a blood vessel.

A close fourth on his return to action at Ballinrobe last month, the Court Cave gelding was sent off an easy-to-back 8/1 chance (from 4s) today.

Settled behind the leaders by Jake Coen, the Tom McParland-owned victor was close up approaching the straight and soon came with his challenge between rivals.

In a share of the lead before the final flight, where he wasn't fluent, the 8/1 chance needed to be ridden out on the run-in to see off the persistent effort of Baltinglass Hill (9/2) by half-a-length.

Returned the 7/2 favourite, Belgoprince was a length away in third under Daniel King for Cathy O'Leary.

"He is a lovely horse. He has had his issues and suffers a little bit with bleeding. He was perfect after his last run and we were able to train him on again for today," Fahey revealed.

"If his issues stay away we will have great fun with him. He is a lovely chaser in the making and works like a very good horse at home.

"I'm delighted for Tom, he has a sore hip and isn't here today.

"Fingers crossed he stays fine and we'll be able to train him on for something in Listowel.

"He'll stay over hurdles but if there was a chase for horses rated 102 or less we could stick him into one of them. He jumps brilliant and travels away the finest."
