Show Court put the seal on a sparkling day for trainer Dermot Weld and jockey Pat Smullen as his emphatic win in the last gave the pair a treble on the day at Leopardstown.
The Master of Rosewell trained Show Court’s father Vinnie Roe to win four Irish St Leger’s and he believes this three-year-old also has a future.
“He’s a grand horse to have. I always wanted to get one by his father. He’s still immature but there are plenty of happy days ahead with him. He may be a Leger horse next year.
“He’ll be a lovely dual-purpose horse and will make a lovely three-year-old hurdler.”
The 5/2 winner led from the gates under Smullen and quickened away in the final furlong to put six and a half lengths between himself and 6/4 favourite Allowed at the finish.
He runs in the colours of Weld’s son Kris.
