Tobar Na Gaoise produces the goods
In Leopardstown’s three-year-old maiden over a mile, Jim Bolger’s unraced colt Tobar Na Gaoise and Kevin Manning overhauled long-time leaders Dodging Bullets and Eagle Canyon 100 yards out to score by half a length.
Bolger commented: “He was slow to arrive [at the track]. He had a few small problems but nothing serious.
“I’ll see how the handicapper treats him and he’ll improve a little bit for that.”
The winner, who was 7/2 in the morning, was nibbled at on course from an opening show of 6/1 to an SP of 5/1.
Dodging Bullets (5/2 favourite) finished a length and three parts in front of Eagle Canyon (11/4) for second place.
Bolger spoke a few words about his Ribblesdale winner Banimpire who is entered in the Darley Irish Oaks on Sunday at the Curragh. Heavy rain is expected in Kildare. He said about this: "She's well. She would prefer good ground but she got through it at Ascot [Good to soft].
"She will run whatever the ground."
