Timourid was value for much more than his winning margin in the extended seven furlong handicap at Roscommon for four-year-olds plus rated up to 90.

Luke McAteer 's mount was on terms early but then took a lead in fourth before leaving the back straight.

McAteer pushed him into the lead at the two pole and the five-year-old gelding was ridden to go for home with a furlong to travel.

The pair were nicely clear in the final 50 yards as McAteer could afford to sit up and coast in by a reduced margin of a length at 13/2. Cosmic Vega was a never nearer second at 25/1 and was half a length in front of No More Porter (7/1).

This was a second start for trainer Paul Flynn who said: "I don't really know much about him as I don't have him that long(ex James McAuley).

“He ran so many times at Dundalk but I felt he wanted a cut in the ground. The boys didn't want to run him because he had no form on that ground but I felt he was more comfortable on it.

“The boys want to go to Galway so we'll try and aim for that. I don't think that ground is essential for him but the seven furlongs is probably ideal on that sort of ground for him.

“He was beaten by a very well handicapped horse the last day. In fairness, he was flat out the last day on the quicker ground at Leopardstown and that might suit him too, being flat out and coming home.

“Hopefully he should win another anyway, it looked like he had a bit left at the end.”
