Cadillac showed off his impressive engine in the Group 2 KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown.

He travelled powerfully into second behind Van Gogh in the final quarter of a mile and swept past him at the furlong marker.

Jessica Harrington 's colt was soon driven clear by Shane Foley and won going away by three and a half lengths to reward favourite backers who took the 11/8.

Van Gogh's SP was 7/2 and he was two and three quarter lengths ahead of Reve De Vol (40/1).

Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said: “You'd have to be delighted with him. You saw the real Cadillac there today and he's a lovely horse.

“He's a horse that just goes through the motions at home, you don't really know how big an engine is in there but it's fairly big.

“He didn't really learn much the first day but learned a lot the last day, and he did it right there today.

“It's great for the syndicate, which we started two years ago and this is the second running of it. We're going to go forward with it next year and it's great to have a high-profile horse like this.

“I'd say all being well his next start will probably be in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.”

Cadillac won his maiden by nine lengths at Leopardstown in July before finishing runner-up in a Group 2 on testing ground at the Curragh last month.

Paddy Power cut Cadillac to 12/1 from 33/1 for the 2,000 Guineas and also gave him a first show of 5/1 for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
