The Tullow Tank ran away with the bumper at Faryhouse, winning in some style by nine lengths for Philip Fenton and Richie Kiely.

Punters were wise to his chance as they sent him off 2/1 market leader. He had been fourth in a maiden hurdle before running fifth in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Naas.

With his sights lowered here, the five-year-old gelding picked up the lead two furlongs from home and strode away to win as he pleased.

Philip Fenton also saddled the runner-up Real Steel (11/2) and he said: “It often backfires when you run two in one race. The other horse (Real Steel) was a bit free with Jane, but he’ll be alright next year.

“The Tullow Tank had two respectable runs over hurdles. The reason we went that direction is because he’s a bit buzzy and those runs helped him grow up.

“On his last couple of runs he hung a bit right. He went a bit right today, but had the rail to lean into.” Timesremembered grabbed third placed prize money at 14/1 for Jerry Cosgrave.
