The Midnight Club Justifies Confidence
The Midnight Club (2s in the morning into 4/5) justified the confidence of his backers as he took the Ryans Event Cleaners Maiden Hurdle to keep Willie Mullins' smashing run going.
Emmet Mullins was certainly in no rush on the chestnut who made his move two out, where he didn't hurdle well, but such was his superiority that he coasted by his main market rival, Lurgan on the run-in, to prevail by a cheeky one and a quarter lengths.
Mullins, riding his fifth winner as a pro, and who partnered The Midnight Club in his point-to-point days, said: "It wasn't as easy as it looked. He missed the second last and I thought he was a bit tired but he picked up well. He is a great jumper." (EM)
