Teo's Sister makes winning debut
The opening race of the card at Leopardstown this evening, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden went to the newcomer Teo's Sister for trainer Jim Bolger and jockey Kevin Manning.
The well bred, full sister of 2006 Champion two-year-old Teofilo, was sent to post at the generous odds of 9/4, with the John Oxx trained Shiramiyna sent off the 11/10fav under Johnny Murtagh.
The winning daughter of Galileo soon led from the stalls and made all from there. She asserted over a furlong from home and when pushed out she kept on well to beat the favourite Shiramiyna by a length and three parts at the line Kate Greenaway fared best of the other five runners finishing a further two lengths back in third for trainer Thomas James with Gary Carroll aboard.
Commenting on why she hasn't run until now winning trainer Jim Bolger said: "Small little things, never anything major, have held her back. She even had footballer type problems like hamstrings. I never had one as unlucky as her."
He went on to say, "She is a great model with good confirmation and temperament.
"We will try and find a few opportunities for her now to get some experience. I'd like to get a nice winners race for her next and then move up in class, but I'd say she wouldn't mind a rapid move up.
"She will probably line up in the Matron Stakes (On Champion Stakes day over the course on September 3rd).
"The ground wasn't a problem for her. Kevin didn't mention it and her brother (Teofilo) handled it.
"I have never had as much interest in an unraced horse before!"
