Teocht followed up on her win at Leopardstown last Thursday as she battled gamely to take the O’Keeffe’s Marquee Hire Rathmore Handicap, scoring under Kevin Manning for Jim Bolger.
The four-year-old daughter of Teofilo went up nine pounds for her win at Leopardstown but carried just the mandatory five pound winners penalty here.
Available at 7/4 this morning she opened on-course at 11/8 before going off the clear 5/4 favourite. Having chased the leader throughout she was ridden in a close third under three furlong from home.
She kept on gamely from over a furlong out, coming between horses to lead well inside the final furlong, prevailing by just a head at the line. Carenza finished second under Conor Hoban for David Marnane at 6/1 (from 7's) while Castle Bar Sling was just a neck back in third under Wayne Lordan for Thomond O’Mara at 11/1.
Ger Flynn, Bolger’s travelling head lad, said afterwards: “She is a very game filly. She was headed but she battled away and came back well. That’s four wins for her now."
