Willie Mullins' sole runner on the card at Fairyhouse, Iris Emery was punted from 11/10 to 8/13f for the mares' maiden hurdle and was much too good for the opposition.
Danny Mullins (also his sole ride in Fairyhouse) drove her about her business two out and the Spanish Moon mare began to open up from Whimsy who was the only mare able to try and go with her.
The leader asserted before the last and ran on well to post a four-length success. Whimsy stuck to her task and emerged with credit in second at 10/3.
Danny Mullins said: “It was a good performance. For a maiden, first time, she jumped very well and that brought me a lot of the way round.
“The second had some decent form pre-Christmas and I'd say for a small field it probably wasn't the worst maiden. They are two decent types and it's nice to get the job done with my one.
“Maidens first time are not normally that straightforward, even out in front on her own. If they were all like that it would be easy.”
