On her fourth outing for Lar Byrne, Tb Broke Her popped up at odds of 33/1, under Sean McDermott, in the Minorstown Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel. Visible Light leading at the time, got the last wrong, and Tb Broke Her soon came through with a determined bid, that took her into a half a length lead at the line.
Tb Broke Her's dam, Catch Ball, won no less than six races herself, including at Powerstown Park, and her five-year-old daughter by Indian Haven is obviously learning with racing as her career only started back in October.
As her name might suggest, Tb Broke Her had a connection with the late iconic show-jumper, Tommy Brennan, who died in 2014.
Byrne explained: "Her owner, Pat O'Loughlin, from Kilfeather, Co Wicklow, was a personal friend of Tommy Brennan, who broke her, before he passed away. It's a coincidence but unfortunately Pat is attending Tommy's sister's (Kathleen O'Neill) funeral after racing this evening.
"I thought this mare wouldn't handle the ground but I knew she was fit and well.
"She is only coming five (years old) but is tough and had a nice little weight." (TW & EM)
