Sweet Sounds ran out a good winner on her debut, taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons.

Having opened at 10/1 on-course, the daughter of Vocalised came in for plenty of market support, going off a 13/2 chance in the colours of owners Qatar Racing Limited.

Settled in mid-division, she took closer order approaching the straight, and was pushed along to challenge on the outer with two furlongs to race.

She was ridden to the front with over a furlong to go, and she kept on well from there, going on to score by three lengths. Lady Derrynane kept on well to take second under Colm O'Donoghue for Jessica Harrington at 25/1, while Coppertone was a further two lengths back in third under Ronan Whelan for Patrick Prendergast at 33/1. Decisive Intent was sent off the 4/6 favourite and she ran no sort of race, finishing eleventh under Declan McDonogh for John Oxx.

Ger Lyons said afterwards: "Shane O'Rourke (Meath gaelic footballer and son of RTE pundit Colm O'Rourke) bred her and she came from the Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale. She was the last one in the last lot of the night and was the cheapest one (E20,000) they bought and I've liked her from day one.

"We knew nothing about her sire but from day one she was straightforward and we gave her as much time as we needed to give her and were expecting her to run well today.

"Winning is a bonus and if she comes out of this race, I'd like to go for the winners' auction race at Roscommon on Monday week. Hopefully then we'll look for black-type."
