Trainer Mark Fahey and jockey Jack Kearney combined for their second big-priced Dundalk winner this month as Dayzee landed the Floodlit Fridays At Dundalk Maiden at 33/1.
The pair were successful with 40/1 outsider Bambeano in a January 4 handicap with Dayzee today showing big improvement on her December debut.
Slowly away on debut, the daughter of Mastercraftsman was more professional today, defeating twice-raced Hypnotise Me by three-parts of a length.
Fahey said "she ran here a month ago and was very slowly out of the stalls. She always showed plenty at home but it was a shock how slow she was out of the stalls the last day. I'm delighted with the way she finished out today.
"Jack gave her a great ride, she took a while to find her feet and at the line hit it good and strong. She'll stay further and Jack said to me she was rolling around up the straight so there's improvement in her.
"I'd say she'll handle any ground, she's a tough, genuine and is so easy to deal with. She just needed time to mature as a two-year-old. There's no plans yet but she could be on the market.”
