Jessica Harrington gained a meaningful feature race win with Sizing Pottsie in the Boylesports Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse today as the trainer on Monday retired Supasundae, who raced for the same late owners Ann and Alan Potts.
Harrington has run five of Ann & Alan Potts Ltd's 16 horses in Britain and Ireland this season and having parked-up Gold Cup winner Sizing John in September, also retired three-time Grade 1 and Cheltenham Festival winner Supasundae on Monday.
In today's race, Sizing Pottsie went clear of his rivals from the third last and in the end stayed on strongly for jockey Paddy Kennedy to beat eye-catching runner-up Entoucas by six lengths.
Afterwards Harrington stated “two miles and heavy ground is what he wants. Once he got to the front he was very lairy and lazy. He went clear very quickly at the second last.
“The two-mile handicap in Leopardstown has a cap of 150 on it. He’s not in the Graded race at Leopardstown and neither is Impact Factor; one will wait for the Dan Moore here and one might go to England for a two-mile handicap. I’d say Impact Factor will come here.
“They both want soft ground and it’s nice to have them.”
