Ex-Richard Hannon trained Fascinating Shadow won on yard debut for John 'Shark' Hanlon and owners the Great White Shark Syndicate today, in Dundalk's View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Handicap at 33/1.
Bought for 23,000 guineas last October having won at Bath the previous month, the son of Fascinating Rock was today produced by Bill Lee from mid-field, to lead a furlong out and score from Jake Peter
Afterwards Hanlon reported “in fairness I was told to buy him and he's not a dear horse. The boys that own him had Dime A Dozen with me and when I bought this horse, I put it up to them and they said go for it. It's a great start.
“My big plan is to go hurdling with him and I want to keep him a novice (for next season) - there's a four-year-old novice hurdle in Cork in three weeks time.
"I might also look at flat options and Billy (Lee) said he would stay two miles, so that gives me a lot of options in staying handicaps. There's a two miler on Irish Derby day that I won years ago with Truckers Delight and maybe he might end up there. Billy said he loves good ground.
"I haven't been here racing for four years and it could be another four years, you never know."
