Those that took odds of at least 7/4 this morning about Tonkinese (8/11) for the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Plus 10 Race), were entitled to feel well pleased after he took the opener at Leopardstown under Shane Foley.
Third at the Curragh on debut twelve days back over six furlongs, the son of Authorized made all here, stepped up to seven, and Mick Halford's charge was in truth always looking good on his way to a three length victory over Brontide
"He's a very straight forward horse. He'd a good draw and the plan was to jump smartly and hopefully get a bit of company," reflected Halford on the Godolphin juvenile.
"Shane said he was still very green and it was like he was having his first run. His ears were pricked and he gave him a lovely feel.
"We'll consider the Chesham, and I'm sure he'll come on again from that." (AM & EM)
