A significant step up in trip proved just the ticket for Tooreen as the seven-year-old mare provided in-form trainer Robert Tyner with yet another winner in the Comeragh Handicap Hurdle.
The 8/1 chance made most of the running in this three-mile event, and quickened clear from the penultimate flight under Philip Enright to beat West Of The Edge (3/1 jt fav) by three and three quarter lengths.
The other 3/1 joint favourite Allez Vic was another half-length back in third.
Tyner said, “I couldn’t believe her jumping was so good. She jumped a bit better at home during the week but she jumped so well today I couldn’t believe it.
“She was disappointing over two miles so we said we’d try her over three miles. She didn’t win a point-to-point but showed enough to encourage me to run her in a bumper.”
This was the middle leg of a 404/1 treble for Tyner and Enright who were successful elsewhere on the card with Who Let De Dogsout (8/1) in the opening 2m4f maiden hurdle and Kandinski (4/1) in the beginners chase.
