Fozzy Stack continued his strong start to the season, with Parting Glass providing the Co Tipperary handler with his eighth success of the campaign in the Navan Racecourse Maiden.

A runner-up on debut at the Curragh in October, the Starspangledbanner chestnut again had to settle for second on his return to action at Tipperary last month.

Bought for 110,000 pounds as a yearling, the chestnut victor was sent off the 9/4 favourite this afternoon, fitted with a tongue-strap for the first time, with Mark Enright in the saddle.

Soon settled in second in the far side group, he was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and quickly asserted, coming home a length-and-a-half to the good.

The well-backed Daisy Jones (5/2 from 13/2 early) came through to take second under Cian McRedmond for Takashi Kodama, while newcomer Ferrari Desert (25/1) ran a fine race on debut, another half-a-length back in third.

"In Tipperary the last day, we were drawn on the wrong side completely and I think he ran a massive race to finish second," Enright said.

"It is tough going (here today) and it was tough work up the hill. He dug deep, he's a horse that doesn't kill himself at home.

"For a sprinter, he has a great mind and he's very relaxed.

"He had a blow again today, so I'd imagine there is a lot more improvement to come.

"He's going the right way - that was good, we expected him to do that. He's a very straightforward horse and he could do no more than he did today."
