Off an absence of 597 days Sizing Symphony put in a classy performance to get a comeback victory in the two and a half mile beginners’ chase at Tipperary.
The seven-year-old gelding had been a smart novice hurdler when last seen and looks a terrific recruit to the chasing ranks in the colours of Alan and Alan Potts for Henry de Bromhead.
The even money favourite jumped past Flight Control into the lead three out and travelled nicely, but then was joined by Shake The Bucket (7/2).
From the last Sizing Symphony fought hard to prevail by half a length. It was 13 lengths back to third-placed Sir Vincent at 9/2.
“He did it well. I wasn’t sure how fit he was so I didn’t want to get into a battle too early,” jockey Andrew Lynch said.
“He jumped well and he’ll improve a lot for this and hopefully he’ll be Ok in the morning.”
