There was little between the pair at Listowel but Silk Worm again proved superior to Infinite Glory to bring up a Tramore double for Liz Doyle in the Copper Coast (Ladies Pro-Am) INH Flat Race.
The Wexford handler was on the mark with J P McManus’ Envol Pierji (Mark Walsh) earlier. She trains Silk Worm for Dr. John O’Connor.
O’Connor is the father of former jockey and now bloodstock agent Matt, who operates under the Graigue Farm banner.
Champion lady point-to-point rider Maxine O’Sullivan was entrusted with the mount on Silk Worm.
Many had chances up out of the dip in the final quarter mile and the successful daughter of Fame And Glory eventually saw off another by that late lamented sire. A length and three parts separated Silk Worm and Infinite Glory at the line.
The favourite Hopefully was seven and a half lengths back in third.
“She was green the last day and hit a flat spot but was hitting the line in Listowel as the penny dropped half-way up the straight. She really knew her job today," said Miss Doyle.
“We might consider a little bit of black type with her now but we are going to have to step up again. She could go for the mares’ race in Navan.
“Maxine gave her a lovely ride and said she loved the soft ground.
“It’s been a while since we had a double but the horses are in great form and we have some nice ones for the winter which is great.”
