Bright Legend wandered in the final furlong, but was driven home to nail Young Ireland in the three-year-old maiden over 1m2f at the Curragh.

There was no certainly no hiding place as Seamie Heffernan and Cape Bridgewater soon set a searching pace.

They were collared on the run to the final quarter of a mile by Young Ireland who went on from Time Tells All and Bright Legend.

The leader was resolute off the front, but it was still a long way home.

Time Tells All cracked in third at the furlong pole as second-running Bright Legend began to wander.

Young Ireland made use of the far rail as Bright Legend drifted into the centre of the track, however, Joey Sheridan administered a few left-handers in the closing stages and his mount straightened up and powered home to win in the final strides.

He scored by three-quarters of a length at 8/1 from the 7/1 runner-up. Time Tells All, the 5/4 favourite, dropped four and a-quarter lengths back in third.

Trainer Fozzy Stack said: "He stays well and likes that ground. He’s a very big horse and still has a lot of maturing to do. He’ll probably be a better horse next year.

“We’ll probably try and find a winners’ race for him.

“He ran away from the whip and he did well to get him organised again. He gave him a good ride.”
