Dundalk runner-up last Friday night Mozetta served notice that former jockey Shay Barry's wait for his first training winner shouldn't be a long one. That certainly proved to be the case as his Cracked Rear View landed the finale at Sligo, the www.countysligoraces.com (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
Unfortunately Canada Cross pulled up injured going down the back and it'll either turn out to be a case of Cracked Rear View and runner-up I'm All You Need being very good or the other four being of the moderate variety.
Seeing as newcomer I'm All You Need was well-touted, perhaps herself and Cracked Rear View are names for a prominent position in the notebook because they pulled all of thirty lengths clear of the third placed Minellacelebration
Richie Kiely 's mount Cracked Rear View stayed on determinedly inside the last to see off Paul Nolan's I'm All You Need by five lengths.
Kilmeaden, County Waterford-based Barry explained: "I've had the licence since February and I've liked this horse all along. He was second in a point-to-point a couple of weeks ago and we decided to enter him here as he's going to the sales in Cheltenham next week.
"I have fifteen riding out at the moment and I had a filly that was second at Dundalk last week so it's nice to get a winner on the track.
"Training is a lot tougher than riding. When I was riding you could just jump off them and walk away but I'm enjoying it all the same.
"I have a few good lads working for me and I've got some good owners." (AM & EM)
