Ballinaboola Steel registered a fourth win in three months at Limerick today as the Shark Hanlon trained eight year old won the David Fitzgerald Memorial Handicap Hurdle under jockey Bryan Cooper.

The son of Craigsteel was produced to lead early in the home straight by Cooper and at the line the pair stayed on well for a two and a quarter lengths win over Ask Heather

Gold Cup winner Cooper was in self-deprecating mood following the race and joked “it was a fair performance as I was like 'Mary Malowney' on him coming up the straight getting there too soon!

“He is a tough little horse and it is a fair training performance to win four races (since August), which is not easy do.

“He'll have to go up in class now and there could be the Porterstown handicap coming up at Navan for him and he could be the type to try for the Pertemps Final down the road.”

“I'm in once a week at Shark's.”
