Co Wexford based Leonard Whitmore, who owns, trains and bred the winner, Hidden Shamrock of today's Drogheda Handicap Hurdle was, for good measure, also on hand to himself lead the gelding up at Navan today.

Ridden by promising claimer Mark Enright, the eight year old gelding benefited from first time blinkers to make most in the 2m7f event, scoring a two lengths win over Cool Oscar

Afterwards Whitmore, with his hands full, briefly stated “I'm glad to get a win with him and he'll go over fences now.”

Enright, who is based with trainer Dessie Hughes, also stated “I spoke to Brian O'Connell, who rode him the last day, and he said he didn't seem to do enough for him then but the blinkers seemed to sharpen him up today.”
