Separate Ways completes odd double
Connections of Separate Ways were celebrating an unusual double at Gowran today, when the son of Chevalier collected his second win in two days.
Separate Ways, which, rightly or wrongly depending on one’s opinion, was demoted from first place in a handicap at Galway on July 29, was reinstated as the winner of that race on appeal yesterday and followed up that win in the Tote Jackpot 3 To 6 Handicap, under regular rider Colm O’Donoghue.
O’Donoghue moved the son of Chevalier to lead a furlong out, eventually running out the half length winner over Putapriceonthat
Afterwards winning trainer David Marnane reported “I’m delighted for Separate Ways’ owners (Long Tipp Syndicate) as today at least they can enjoy their winner on the day! The Galway Stewards had a difficult decision to make on the day but thank god the Appeal Stewards made the right decision, I think.”
“Separate Ways has improved a good bit and we’ll aim him at the Cambridgeshire next.”
