Backed into 9/2 from 6/1 on track, and bigger earlier, Rince Deireanach came out on top in the "Hudson Taylor" Apprentice Handicap at Leopardstown. Danehill Quest finished off well, but not well enough to get to the Jim Bolger-trained and Gavin Ryan-ridden Rince Deireanach.
Half a length separated them at the death.
"She's hardy. They went fast and she sees it out well. She is fairly versatile distance wise but would not want it any shorter than that (a mile)," said Bolger.
"Gavin is a good rider and he has a good head on him."
N.M. Crosse, rider of Dancing Lady trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.
