Champion apprentice James Ryan completed a double on the afternoon when partnering Trishuli River to win Division ll of the Now Racing Every Wednesday At Dundalk Handicap.
Ryan, who rode Sayifyouwill to win the Claiming Race earlier in the afternoon, had to be at his strongest to get the Shane Crawley trained filly home by a short head from Jawhary
Travelling easily into the straight, the four-year-old headed the latter early in the straight. Soon off the bridle, Trishuli River found plenty for pressure when Jawhary battled back close home.
At the line, there was just a short head separating the pair.
Shane Crawley said: "Delighted!
"The sire is Poet's Word, so should get the trip. That race was ideal today.
"I wouldn't mind dropping her back to a mile in that company.
"Hopefully, we can go to war again. Freshen her up and, whenever she is ready, we will go again."
On the Hon The River Syndicate, he added: "Just a group of lads that were looking for a horse to get involved in and Trishuli was there.
"They wanted something for a bit of a punt, so I said 'this one could be the one for you'. She went in and grand. They did some roaring!"
