Red Rannagh justified the faith of those that backed him from 5/2 into 11/8 (7/2 earlier) when registering a win on his fourth outing in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Dundalk.
Willie Browne jocked up Seamie Heffernan on the Gerard Kerin-owned Teofilo colt and in the end the favourite short-headed Ebadan The victor had made virtually all the running.
There was two and a quarter lengths back to Mark Johnston's raider, Twobeelucky in third.
Michael Browne representing his brother said: "We think he's a reasonably good horse. He's a big horse and will take time. He'll make a good three-year-old.
"Hopefully he can get black-type next year. He's a good staying horse. He was very unlucky here last time."
The Stewards fined J.P. Murtagh, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Sister Blandina in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91.
The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
