Matt Quinn from Banbridge, County Down, renewed his trainer's licence in the past year, and he bridged a lengthy gap back to his last winner when Shelbe (20/1 into 14/1) landed the concluding Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Handicap at Dundalk.

Quinn was last at the number one spot through Arkdel at Kilbeggan sixteen years ago, and here he was represented by his daughter Bernie.

She explained: "Dad took out the licence again in the past year and we have four horses in training. This horse has been steadily getting better, and will probably come back here again."

Shelbe, a three-year-old daughter of Big Bad Bob, had Mick Hussey in the plate here, and she was never far away before coming with her challenge two furlongs out.

Ridden to lead a furlong and a half out, Shelbe kept on well in the final furlong to see off Jestival by a length and a half.
