Quaintly overturns Alayir at Wexford
Quaintly (5/1), trained by David Wachman and ridden by Wayne Lordan overturned the well fancied 10/11 favourite Alayir to win the Barrow Race, the third on this evening’s card at Wexford.
The 3yo Giant’s Causeway filly was challenged 2 furlongs out by the favourite, but as they straightend up for home, the winner pulled out more to score by a comfortable two lengths at the finish.
This was her sixth career start having being placed twice in the past, at Listowel on her debut last summer and at Leopardstown in October.
Winning rider Wayne Lordan said afterwards, “She worked well at home and pottered along out in front today. Hopefully she will improve again after this.”
