Politesse got off the mark at the third attempt with a commanding success in the concluding mares bumper at Thurles this afternoon.
The Lorna Fowler-trained daughter of Beat Hollow had run a cracker to finish second to Darling Daughter in Grade 2 company at the Dublin Racing festival on her most recent outing.
She was sent to post a well backed 4/5 favourite today having been 15/8 in the morning for this two-mile contest.
Tom Hamilton tracked the leaders on the market leader before sending her to the front half a mile from home.
She galloped on strongly down the straight to record a convincing five-length success over Watergate Lady
"It is a relief - not because I didn't expect it but because I don't have many horses and it is rather easier when they go off at 66/1 as there's no pressure,” said Fowler.
"She came out of Leopardstown really well and this was the obvious race to go for and take on her own sex. Like all horses, they'll tend to go on any variations (of ground) and she is very exciting.
"My husband (Harry Fowler) bred her with Alex Davies and is now owned in partnership with Pete Davies and where we go from here, I want to sit down and see. She has done more than I could have asked for at this stage but there are lots of options for her.
"We are all about the bigger picture, she is well bred and I'd like to think it isn't just about this year, it is about the next few years going forward.
"We'll look at all the serious bumper options now but she won't go to Cheltenham."
