Trainer Ado McGuinness enjoyed the second leg of a double, with jockey Declan McDonogh, more than most winners at Dundalk tonight as his War Hero completed the feat in the Best Night Out At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
Ware Hero was today registering a fourth career success and while he carried the colours of Bart O'Sullivan to victory, trainer McGuinness later revealed “it's a bit emotional because he belonged to Bart O'Sullivan our yard sponsor who passed away before Christmas.
“He got me the Dooleys (Syndicate) who own Saltonstall, some good horses and new owners in and I owe him a lot and I'm really delighted that this has happened tonight. His son James has taken over the reins and he's been a great help. I just can't thank him enough, he's just been super for us.
“It's great for the horse, and we're delighted for him, but it's just great for Bart who is up there looking down on us. I'm really really grateful for him.
“Seven is his trip. We'll come back here again and I think there is a good handicap in him during the summer.”
McGuinness and McDonogh were also successful with heavily backed favourite Rock On Aidan in an earlier handicap.
