The Joseph O’Brien trained, J.P. McManus owned Plinth justified 6/4 favouritism to win the Follow Kilbeggan On Twitter Hurdle at Kilbeggan today, winning despite a final flight mistake, under jockey Mark Walsh.
The Grade 2 winning son of Montjeu was pressed by chasing Killer Crow when making a mistake at the final flight but luckily for his supporters, the eventual runner-up Killer Crow similarly erred at the obstacle and in the end failed by just a head to reel back Plinth.
Following the race, O’Brien stated “he doesn't owe anyone anything and he’s a grand horse and tries everyday he runs. It's nice to get a win with him again.
“He gets a bit lonely in front and likes company - that's why he wears blinkers. For a horse that likes company though all his best form is in small fields.
“He ran over fences in Tramore the last day and we'll either look for something similar to this or a country beginners chase.”
