Galtee Mist made every post a winning one in the Listed COLM QUINN BMW Irish EBF Corrib (Fillies) Stakes over seven furlongs in Galway.

The five-year-old mare broke smartly from gate two and Gary Carroll dictated throughout.

The pair kicked off the home bend and had their rivals in trouble. They motored in by three and a half lengths at 11/1. Lustown Baba (5/1) took a runner-up reward by half a length from strong-finishing Royal Canford (18/1).

Joe Murphy said: “That was the plan. She ran a great race in the group race last week, beaten six lengths, as the race didn't suit her. They crawled for three and sprinted for three.

“We thought this track would suit her and she has full black-type now and that's her sixth win. She's a good mare and she's in foal to Make Believe.

“She's in the handicap on Sunday but she'd be off a new mark in that so it probably won't happen.

“She might have to find a Group 3 in England or somewhere as she's finished racing on August 20th.”

Carroll said: "She's a revelation, she's like riding a motorbike! She loves these tight tracks. She is out into stride quick and you can steady and do what you want.

"She loves it around here and she loves the hill. When I got around the bend and met the rising ground, I quickened well and put the race to bed I thought.

"She's in foal so maybe that is after bringing about improvement. It is brilliant for Joe Murphy and brilliant for Tom Egan (owner), he bought this horse himself off his own bat."
