Peter McCreery joined his brother Willie on scoresheet at Gowran, as his Lady Ranger took the Kilkenny Apprentice Handicap under Keith Quinn.

Willie McCreery was on the mark thirty minutes earlier with Joyce Compton and brother Peter made it a family double.

Originally trained by McCreery, the daughter of Bushranger had a stint with Adrian Keatley, winning twice, before rejoining the successful handler last October.

Placed three times over the summer, the five-year-old chestnut was sent off at 7/1 today.

Settled towards rear by Quinn, she was pushed along and took closer order on the inner from over two furlongs out.

She kept on well inside the final furlong, and got to the front in the final 50 yards, going on to score by half a length.

Gowran specialist Enough Is Enough (11/2) kept on well to take second under Oisin Orr for Paddy Meany, while Peace Mission (11's last night, and from 7/2 to 9/2 on-course), who attempted to make all, was a short head back in third under Donagh O'Connor for Tom Mullins. Lightening Stricks went off the well-backed 4/1 favourite (from 7's on-course) and he was another two and a quarter lengths away in fourth, with Denis Linehan in the saddle for Liam Roche.

Peter McCreery said afterwards: "She's been knocking on the door, and he gave her a great ride to get up the rail. She's in again over a mile at Galway on Monday and will probably go there."

This is the first time Peter and Willie McCreery have had a winner on the same card.
