Peace Mission prevails

Punters came for Gladly at Down Royal but it was Peace Mission who galloped her rivals into the turf in the seven furlong fillies' maiden.

Charles O'Brien 's Gladly was well-supported from 13/8 to 11/8 favourite on the off as Peace Mission went off at 7/4.

Peace Mission broke smartly to lead and Gary Carroll set out to make all. She asserted over a furlong out and stayed on strongly to score by three and three quarter lengths.

The favourite, Gladly, could make no impression on the leader in the final furlong and had to settle for second place.

This was three-year-old filly Peace Mission's third run for Thomas Mullins. She was second on debut at 66/1 in Gowran Park before finishing fifth at Leopardstown.

Gary Carroll said: "The last day she boiled over, I don't know what happened her. We put ear plugs in her today and she was a different filly. She galloped the whole way. She had a lovely run on debut."
