It was a battle of the Pauls late on in the Ambrex Switchgear Handicap Hurdle (DIV I) at Wexford. Event three at Bettyville eventually went the way of Paul O'Flynn's well-backed A Nod To Getaway (13/2 into 4/1) beating Paul Flynn's Rightfolksplease (7/2 out to 11/2) by a neck.
Paul O'Flynn was on lead-up duties and it was left to winning jockey Darragh O'Keeffe to say: "It's tough out there after the rain the other night.
"He wasn't really travelling that great early on, so I pulled him out a bit for some fresher ground. He started travelling away then.
"He jumped the second last well and missed the last but thankfully the line came in time.
"He is a horse that probably stays a bit further than two-mile one. He pinged the second last and I was kind of left there, so I went on then and thankfully he kept going.
"Paul thought he'd run a big race. I rode him in Clonmel where it was extreme heavy and he probably got caught out a little bit, but the form of the race has worked out well. We thought off his mark than he would be capable of doing something."
The Raceday Stewards granted a request from Gordon Michael Doyle, trainer of Lacken Run for an additional ten minutes to present his charge for identification to an IHRB Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90(i).
