Red Pantz got off the mark on her first attempt in handicap company with a game performance in the three-year-old sprint handicap at Naas.

Luke McAteer had his mount to the fore throughout in the six furlong contest and she battled it out with 3/1 favourite Kosman from over a furlong out.

The James Barrett-trained filly found more close home to record a half length victory at odds of 18/1.

Red Pantz had been third in a Navan maiden on her most recent start and the winning trainer said:-

“I felt off 68 she had a good chance. She ran over seven on her first two starts, we got the trip wrong with her.

“Then she ran over an extended five the last day in Navan and she was very game. I wasn't sure she would have early pace then and I told him to jump out and we made too much use of her.

“Today he jumped, sat there and he said she was always finding. We knew two out she was going to do it.

“She's a nice honest filly and has a super attitude. She has a big pedigree as well so it's good that she's won.”
