Oxx and Curtis double up with Missy
John Oxx and Ben Curtis, successful earlier with Haleniya in the mile and a half maiden, completed a 26.5/1 double on day two of the Tramore Festival when the well-bred Missy O' Gwaun opened her account in the www.thetote.com Handicap.
Visibility was poor in the back straight as the persistent sea mist thickened but the King's Best filly emerged in front going into the dip.
Available at 7/1 this morning before supported down to 9/2 at the off, she kept on strongly in the final furlong to beat Llew Law (20/1) by three and a half lengths with Miss Brownes Fancy (8/1) another length and a half back in third.
Oxx said, “She's been promising in her home work but has been plain disappointing on the track. She was a suitable candidate for this track and handled it well. It's nice to get a win for her as she's a well-bred filly, and she'll go to the Newmarket Sales in December. She may have another run.” Princess Tuptin (Sam James) slipped up at halfway on the bend just after the stands, and brought down the Conor Hoban-ridden Midador Both riders and horses appeared unscathed after the incident.
