Just a nose split them at the end of the Fairyhouse Members 2020 Handicap Hurdle with 6/1 second favourite Fight For Love touching off Reine Fee
Market-leader Fighting Fit was an eye-catcher, staying-on for third, after seeming to be outpaced when the tempo quickened in the two miler.
Only recently back from injury (a fractured ankle), Denis O’Regan rode his first winner since September when triumphing here in the Gordon Elliott Racing Club silks.
Fight For Love and Reine Fee were three lengths ahead of Fighting Fit.
“On his second last run here he had a good chance," said Elliott.
“It’s great to get a winner for the Racing Club, and also for Denis as it’s his first winner back since coming back from an injury.
“I was at the last and thought we were going to win going by the last and then I thought we were beat so it’s great.”
M.P. Walsh, rider of Fighting Fit (GB) trained by J.P.Dempsey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel.
