No catching Magic
Pat Martin's Like Magic equipped with cheek-pieces and a tongue-tie, gained the fourth victory of his life when landing the 5 Euro Summer Admission at Fairyhouse Handicap under Seamie Heffernan.
From some way out it was apparent that his rivals would struggle to get to the front-runner and at the line Like Magic had a length and three parts and two and a half lengths to spare over the Eddie Lynam-trained pair Good To Follow and Iron Major
Martin said: "For once we got the tactics right. I was talking to Eddie Lynam before the race and I asked him where the pace was going to come from.
"He said we could get a soft lead and that's the way it worked out though it's unfortunate that Eddie was the one to suffer.
"This horse has always had the ability but things haven't always gone his way.
"He ran well on fast ground at the Curragh a couple of runs back but he may have been feeling the effects of it when running on similar ground at Cork (down the field) last time.
"That nice ground there was a help to him."
Like Magic, gaining his second win at Fairyhouse, is owned by an enthusiastic Clonsilla, County Dublin grouping, the Kinda Magic Syndicate. Many of them were in attendance to shout their pride and joy home.
