Nearly Nama'd the outsider of four JP McManus runners in the EasyFix Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse, sprang a 20/1 shock in the €50,000 contest to repeat his 2015 victory in the same race.

The nine-year-old, now under the care of Austin Leahy, continued the good run of his Kilmallock handler who saddled a double at Limerick yesterday.

Luke Dempsey tracked the leaders in the two-mile contest before producing his mount to challenge two from home.

The Millenary gelding fought it out with front-runner De Benno and Some Plan going to the final fence. He stormed clear on the run-in to secure a five-and-a-half length success from the long-time leader.

Nearly Nama'd had been a well-held fourth behind Doctor Phoenix (finished 10th today) on his last outing at Cork last month.

"He could come back here for the Dan Moore in January. He won it before. He did that well,” said Leahy.

"I have him since about June. Sandra (Hughes) had him before and did a good job with him because he won this race and another valuable one here.

"Things are going well but I know the other side of things as well!"

Another former Hughes inmate Total Recall was also on the mark today when landing the valuable Ladbrokes Trophy over in Newbury for Willie Mullins.
