The Liam Burke trained My Murphy gained his maiden chase at the seventh attempt when landing a gamble to win the New Value Hospitality Packages At Fairyhouse Beginners Steeplechase at Fairyhouse today, under Robbie Power.
The winner was well supported all day (8/1 in the morning into 4/1) and while headed at the final fence by Followmeuptocarlow rallied really well on the run-in for a three lengths win over that rival.
Afterwards Burke said “he was very unlucky last year; he fell at Navan when I fancied him for a novice handicap and a horse galloped on his head. At Punchestown then a horse collided with him at the first and his race was over.
“At Gowran he was a bit careful early on but still ran a good race and had his ideal conditions today; it wasn't too soft but soft enough to slow down the others.
“He doesn't do things quickly but stays and is tough and longterm Robbie (Power) thinks we should gear him at the Irish National.”
