The market got it right in race five at Roscommon as the favourite Wilderness wore down second-favourite New Vocation

The latter set out to make all in division two of the extended mile and a quarter handicap for four-year-olds plus.

She was tracked throughout by second-running Wilderness who was ridden approaching the final two furlongs.

New Vocation kept toughing it out off the front end but finally gave best with 100 yards to to race. Wilderness (11/8f) went on by a length and a quarter at the line from the 'Burlington Bertie' 100/30 runner-up.

The front two had the race to themselves at the business end as Clifftop (12/1) came in third a further three lengths back.

Jockey Ben Coen said: “I followed Gary (Carroll, on New Vocation) the whole way and we quickened up turning in. She stayed well and when she hit the front she pricked her two ears.

“She’s in good form, so hopefully she can keep it going.”

This continued trainer Johnny Murtagh's red-hot form as he enjoyed his 10th winner since June 12th.

Wilderness was following up on a victory at Gowran Park on Friday.
