Mountain Philip caused something of an upset when taking the Glenview And Rathbarry Stud Novice Hunters Chase at Tipperary.
The 11/1 chance was a soundly beaten third behind Island Master at Tattersalls Farm back in December but turned that form around here.
A first winner on the track in nearly four years for Kilmacthomas trainer Diarmuid Ryan, the six-year-old gelding did come into this race off the back of a good win in a Ballynoe maiden.
Larry Murphy partnered his third winner under rules, and his first over fences, when getting up close home to deny the front-running Island Master by a length. Blackwood Rover was a further three lengths away in third.
Ryan said, "That's my third racecourse winner and I only have a couple in training.
"I thought coming here we would be in the first three but it's great to win and Larry gave him a great ride. He'll be left off for the summer now."
Murphy (24) is from Fermoy and works for the race sponsor Rathbarry Stud's Paul Cashman.
